ULLSWATER MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING TEMPTS JOHNNY VEGAS  BACK TO HIS LAKELAND ‘HOME FROM HOME’

18Sep

On Saturday 21 September, the much-loved comedian, Johnny Vegas will return to popular Ullswater holiday park, Hillcroft Park in Pooley Bridge in support of MacMillan Cancer Support’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’.

The event starts at 10.30am and runs until 12.30pm. Coffee, cake and biscuits will be on sale to visitors and Johnny will preside over a cake auction at 12pm – all the cakes auctioned have been kindly donated by Ullswater businesses. All proceeds raised will go towards the incredible work of MacMillan Cancer Support.

Hillcroft Park became Johnny’s Lakeland ‘Home from Home’ for six weeks in 2017 during filming for the BBC series ‘Home from Home’ which aired last year on BBC1.  Since then Johnny has been a regular visitor and become an honorary member of the Hillcroft Park team and indeed of the wider community.

Owners John and Jill Heath commented:

We’re absolutely delighted that Johnny will be joining us for our popular, annual MacMillan coffee morning. We’ve also been overwhelmed by the generosity of local businesses and bakers who’ve donated some lovely cakes to the cause.”

Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is an annual event that sees more than 200,000 people take part in a day dedicated to cuppas and cakes, raising vital funds for Macmillan so this brilliant organisation can continue to be there for the growing number of people with cancer in the UK.

Hillcroft Park is open from March to November for camping, glamping and touring while their holiday homes and lodges are open March to January and two self-catering cottages plus Ullswater House (sleeping up to 14) are open year round. The park is located just above the Ullswater Valley village of Pooley Bridge, a 10 minute drive from the M6 (J40). For further information or to book, visit www.hillcroftpark.co.uk

Fire, Music, Masks and Mayhem in Pooley Bridge!

The two day festival encourages visitors to dress up and ‘join the herd’ by donning a mask, dressing up as a farmer and enjoying the entertainment.

The Ullswater Droving marks the beginning of the two days of droving celebrations and will take place on Friday 25th October with a special torchlight procession through Pooley Bridge led this year by The Baghdaddies.

On Sat 26th October Penrith is transformed with its busiest market of the year, bustling streets, roaming street performances around every corner, and top quality local, regional and national musical acts across 5 stages. This all leads up to the highlight of the day – a magical fire and lantern procession throughout the town, where thousands of people line the streets to watch the spectacle, finishing with a headline act on the main stage.

Created by Eden Arts, The Winter Droving has become one of Cumbria’s iconic cultural events seeing 20k+ attend annually. Now in its 8th year, the event has grown exponentially with audiences making the journey from all corners of the UK.
